Tisa–Bega Water Corridor

4-6 days
200 km

Description

The Tisa–Bega Water Corridor is conceived as a flagship cross-border route connecting the major waterways of northern Serbia and western Romania through a network of eco-friendly kayaking, canoeing, and river-based tourism experiences. The route transforms the Tisa and Bega rivers — historically arteries of trade and cultural exchange — into a platform for experiential and environmental tourism.  The concept emphasizes sustainable use of aquatic ecosystems, the development of soft adventure infrastructure, and cross-border mobility for water sports enthusiasts.

Serbian section: Ada – Senta – Kanjiža – Novi Kneževac

Romanian section: Cenad – Satchinez – Coronini – Dubova – Orșova – Mehedinți – Berbu Nou – Remetea Mare

The Serbian part of the route follows the lower Tisa River, passing through calm meanders, fishing zones, and protected riparian habitats. On the Romanian side, the route extends along the Bega and Danube arms, reaching Cazanele Dunării, one of Europe’s most scenic river gorges.

Together, these waterways form a continuous transboundary corridor of approximately 200 kilometers, connecting inland waters with the Danube’s broader tourism and ecological network.
