About Avantur Banat
Connecting communities through sustainable cross-border tourism
The Project
Project title: Development of adventure tourism based on natural values of the Banat region
The project is implemented within the framework of the Interreg IPA Romania–Serbia Cross-Border Cooperation Programme.
Lead Partner: Association Movement for Male Pijace, Male Pijace, Serbia
Project Partners: Tourism Development Association Tisa Palić Klaster Senta, Serbia and the Association Otelec Hungarian for Hungarians, Otelec, Romania.
The objective of the Avantur Banat project is to increase the tourist attractiveness of the Banat region, to develop active and experience-based tourism, and to integrate the region’s natural and cultural values into a unified and clearly communicated system. Within the project, complex development and marketing activities have been implemented, supporting the long-term, sustainable growth of tourism in the region.
One of the most significant outcomes of the project is the development of eight different thematic routes that cover the region’s most important tourism potentials. These routes are based on elements of active tourism and, through a unified concept, present the diverse offer of Banat. Special emphasis was placed on experiential value, accessibility, and the involvement of local service providers and communities in the design of the routes.

The Banat Region
Banat is a geographical and historical region in southeastern Europe, primarily divided between Romania and Serbia, with smaller parts extending into Hungary. It offers excellent opportunities for the development of adventure tourism thanks to its diverse natural features, good accessibility by road and air, and well-developed accommodation capacities in its major cities. However, to attract tourists, we need to build on our natural resources to create adrenaline-filled experiences that provide several days of relaxation and rejuvenation as a welcome escape from everyday life
Project Partnership
This non-govermental Organisation was established to achieve several key objectives. Its aim is to ensure that the partners possess the knowledge and capacities necessary to develop a sustainable business model that will remain viable beyond the project implementation period. Another important goal is to enable mutual learning and create a platform for knowledge transfer in the establishment of tourism infrastructure and the development of adventure tourism. Ultimately, the partnership seeks to contribute to the creation of an integrated cross-border tourist offer.
