Rural Heritage Trail

Description

The Rural Heritage Trail is designed to highlight the deep-rooted equestrian culture of the Banat region, a tradition that has connected communities across the Serbian–Romanian border for centuries. Horses have historically symbolized rural mobility, agricultural life, and cultural expression in Banat’s villages. This route transforms that legacy into a modern, experience-based tourism product that unites equestrian centers, rural households, guest farms, and natural landscapes into a cohesive cross-border network.

GEOGRAPHICAL AND STRUCTURAL OVERVIEW

Serbian section: Ada – Sterijino – Senta – Novi Kneževac – Male Pijace – Rabe

Romanian section: Pădureni – Dudești Noi – Timișoara – Recaș – Izvin – Herneacova – Naidăș – Berzasca – Herculane – Șimian

The route follows a north–south axis connecting the Pannonian plain in Serbia with the foothills of the Carpathian Mountains in Romania. This transboundary corridor merges flat rural terrain ideal for recreational horse riding with mountain and forest trails suited for adventure equitation. The network enables multi-day thematic itineraries — from beginner lessons and family rides to professional endurance routes and carriage tours.
