Carriage Ride Route – Paths of Tradition and Craft

2-3 days
110 km

Description

The Carriage Ride Route – Paths of Tradition and Craft is designed to reinterpret the Banat region’s historical means of transportation and its deep-rooted equestrian culture as a living heritage tourism experience. Once a common form of travel for trade, social gatherings, and agricultural work, the carriage today symbolizes cultural continuity, craftsmanship, and rural hospitality.  This route connects traditional villages, heritage farms, and equestrian centers, encouraging visitors to experience Banat’s landscapes through slow, sensory travel that blends storytelling, heritage interpretation, and interaction with local artisans.

Serbian section: Rabe - Male Pijace – Novi Kneževac – Senta - Ada

Romanian section: Naidăș - Recaș

The route operates along a compact, cross-border corridor of approximately 110 kilometers, connecting the rural lowlands of northern Banat with the hilly vineyard zones of western Romania.

On the Serbian side, it passes through agricultural settlements rich in traditional farmsteads (salaši), open fields, and small village squares where fairs and rural celebrations are still common. The Romanian section provides a cultural and scenic transition, linking Recaș, known for its wine production and traditional inns, with Naidăș, a gateway to equestrian and rural experiences along the border.

Together, they form a loop of heritage interaction, ideal for weekend or day excursions, community festivals, and cultural routes based on craftsmanship and traditional mobility.
