About Kayak Club Bratstvo – Kanjiža

The kayak club was founded in 1968 in premises received from sport fishermen. Today, it has a newly built kayak home on the bank of the Tisa (storage for kayaks, training halls, changing rooms, and equipment). The club has one of the most beautiful facilities in the country, with a 30-meter-long pontoon, boat storage rooms, motorboats, kayak trailers, barbecue and cooking facilities, about 90 kayaks, a gym – all in a natural yet organized environment. The annual regatta is organized by Kayak Club “Bratstvo” on the Tisa embankment in Kanjiža, following the rules of the Serbian Kayak Federation. The history of kayaking in Kanjiža goes back to 1968, though some recall that even before then, Nikola Rakić from Kanjiža paddled along the Tisa in a kayak made in Zemun. Around the same time, a young man from Senta married a woman from Kanjiža and brought with him a narrow boat with a wooden frame covered with waterproof cloth, placing it in the Tisa – marking the true beginning of kayaking in Kanjiža.
